The Global StopCyberbullying Telesummit is the largest bullying and cyberbullying event held worldwide. We are already in the 5th. edition!
More than talking about the problem, let’s talk about solutions.
During the month of October (European Cybersecurity Month and Bullying Prevention), Cristiane Miranda, Sónia Seixas and Tito de Morais organize and promote the 4th Edition of the Global StopCyberbullying Telesummit.
Every working day, we will hear from several experts who come to talk to us about how to prevent, identify, intervene and tackle bullying and cyberbullying.
It will be 21 days, more than 30 hours, about 25 guests bringing us several topics related to bullying and cyberbullying.
We’re sure you won’t want to miss out.
Sessions will be conducted in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, depending on the guest. Sessions in English, French or Spanish, will have simultaneous translation into Portuguese.

Cristiane Miranda
Co-Founder of the Agarrados à Net project, PortugalAfter 20 years in the business world, in 2016 she embarked on different areas, which brought her a vision of working directly with people, which led her to find her purpose in life and do what fulfills her: helping others through of coaching, having created a specific program, Teen On Top - Coaching for Youth, where she helps young people reach their true potential and supporting parents in their task of educating their children. She has more than 20 years of volunteering experience with children and youth. She also created Teen On Top-School Edition, a program for schools, which helps students define their goals and also works on their self-esteem and self-confidence. In 2021, together with Tito de Morais, they created the project “Agarrados à Net – How to Manage Your Children’s Online Time”, whose mission is to help parents and educators better manage the time their children spend behind a screen, as well as helping the kids themselves to better manage their own online time better, in a practical, simple and relaxed way. Among other programs, they developed the “217 Challenge - 7 Steps to Positive Digital Parenthood”, “What Kind of Digital Parents Are We” and “Make Yourself Heard! End [Cyber]Bullying”. She was also co-organizer and co-host of the IV Global StopCyberbullying Telesummit (2022). Together they structured and taught for Plátano Editora the teacher training courses "Education for Citizenship and Digital Wellbeing" and "Bullying & Cyberbullying - How to Identify, Prevent, Intervene and Tackle", promoted by the Regional Directorate of Education and the Regional Secretariat of Education, Science and Technology of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (2022). They were also the creators of the Digital Wellbeing Week and organizers of the 1st International Conference on the Promotion of Digital Wellbeing (2023).
Sónia Seixas
Psychologist, Teacher in Higher Education, PortugalBorn in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1970, she has a Degree in Social Anthropology from ISCTE and a Degree in Educational Psychology from ISPA. She has a PhD in Pedagogical Psychology from the University of Coimbra, with a thesis on health and bullying behavior. She has been a Higher Education professor since 1998, teaching mainly formal and non-formal education courses, developmental and learning psychology content. She is currently Vice-President of the Santarém Polytechnic Institute. She is a researcher, trainer and author of books and articles on bullying and cyberbullying, namely co-author of the books "Bullying Plan - How to Erase School Bullying", "Say No to Bullying - Don't let them hurt you! " and "Cyberbullying - A Guide for Parents and Educators".
Tito de Morais
Founder of the MiudosSegurosNa.Net project, PortugalIn addition to founding the MiudosSegurosNa.Net project in 2003, he was an external evaluator of the “Cyber Training – Taking Action Against Cyberbullying” project, an initiative funded by the European Commission that produced a training manual for trainers in the field of cyberbullying. He is co-author of the book "Cyberbullying - Um Guia Para Pais e Educadores" (Portugal, 2016) and of a chapter of the book "Bullying: Perspectives, Practices and Insights" published by the Council of Europe in 2017. He structured and was a trainer in the Advanced Course in Cyberbullying [ E.learning] (1st edition - 2017; 2nd edition - 2018; 3rd edition - 2019; 4th edition - 2020) promoted by the CRIAP Institute (Portugal). He was co-organizer and co-host of the Cyberbullying Talks (2019, 2020 and 2021) and co-organizer and co-host of the Global StopCyberbullying Telesummit (2019 to 2022), with speakers from several countries, representing all Continents. He was also a specialist in the MOOC (Massive Online Open Course) 'Bullying & Cyberbullying: Prevent and Act' (1st edition - 2019; 2nd edition - 2020; 3rd edition - 2022) promoted by the General Directorate of Education (DGE) within the scope of the SeguraNet Awareness Center and the Health Education team, and was a consultant for the DGE working group for the "School Without Bullying. School Without Violence" plan (2019). Juntamente com Cristiane Miranda é co-fundador do projeto Agarrados à Net e co-criador do programa “Faz-te Ouvir! Dá a Volta ao [Cyber]Bullying!”. Together with Cristiane Miranda he is co-founder of the Agarrados à Net project and co-creator of the program “Faz-te Ouvir! Professor, CanadáBill Belsey is Canada’s most awarded teacher. His career in education has spanned 40 years. Among the many honours he has received are the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions to education.
Marco Neves
Specialist and Consultant in Artificial Intelligence and Education, PortugalIT Teacher at the Batalha School District. He obtained his master's degree in Educational Sciences - Specialization in Educational Informatics at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. He’s a consultant and specialist in Education/Digital Technology in the field of Artificial Intelligence in Education.
Francesca Gottschalk
Analyst, OECD, FranceFrancesca Gottschalk is a policy analyst in the 21st Century Children project in the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation. Francesca is the co-editor and contributing author of Education in the Digital Age: Healthy and Happy Children and Educating 21st Century Children: Emotional Well-Being in the Digital Age. She has published working papers on cyberbullying, digital equity and inclusion in education, and on the impacts of digital technology use on children. She previously worked on the OECD’s Teacher Knowledge Survey, and on the Strength Through Diversity project. Francesca holds a master’s degree in public policy and international affairs from the American University of Paris and an honours bachelor of science in human biology and psychology from the University of Toronto.
Beatriz Pereira
Professor, University of Minho, PortugalBeatriz Pereira is a full professor at the University of Minho, has a PhD in Child Studies from the same university, a master's degree in Educational Sciences in the specialty of Physical Education Methodology from the Technical University of Lisbon, FMH and a degree in Physical Education from the University of Porto, ISEF. She’s currently President of the Institute of Education. She is an integrated member of the Child Studies Research Center (CIEC), funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She was Director of the Doctoral Course in Child Studies. She was director of the master's degree in Physical Education Teaching and the master's degree in Child Studies, specializing in Physical Education and Leisure. She has carried out research in the area of bullying at school, leisure and physical activity, play and child motor development. She is the author of several articles published in scientific journals, book chapters and coordinator of several works published in Portugal and Brazil. She is the founder of the International Seminar on Physical Education and Health, which is in its 16th edition, held alternately in Portugal and Brazil, and of the Journeys in Child Studies. She supervised more than twenty doctoral theses and more than 50 master's theses.
Silvana Giachero

Peter Arojojoye
Product Manager and Digital Policy Analyst, NigeriaPeter Arojojoye holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from University of Ibadan, Nigeria and a Certificate Course in Data Protection from University of Lagos, Nigeria. He recently completed a fellowship at African Liberty, a Pan-African freedom Advocacy Group where he conducted research and published articles on a number of trending issues in the African digital rights space. He is the author of the article “Why Africa must address cyberbullying”. Peter is passionate about selling and managing innovative technology products as he believes in the problem-solving attribute of technology.

Catarina Marques
Journalist, SIC – Impresa Group, PortugalIn the kitchen of my grandmother Felicidade's house, with centuries-old walls and a door always open to the street, the family gathered around the wide table and the adults' conversations continued into the night, against the fire. I liked listening. And to ask. When I grew up and my questions began to risk the limit of inconvenience, I became a journalist. And with that stamp, I gained a passport to legitimize all the issues and to enter all the houses, from those that lack floors to those that display golden ceilings. Curiosity has always been my driving force. I graduated in Communication Sciences from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and joined SIC driven by the admiration and respect that journalism and television represent for me. I worked for some time coordinating information spaces, magazines and debates, but it was always reporting that I surrendered to, so that has been the path I have been exploring. With microphone in hand, I cross backyards and worlds in search of lives and stories that are worth voice and image. I dedicate myself mainly to topics in the social area, health and education and every day I test the dose of fascination and responsibility that journalism leaves in my lap. I have had the honor of receiving several journalism awards. Among the distinguished reports – all broadcasted on SIC's Jornal da Noite (Nightly News) – I highlight the following: “Me, my backpack and nothing else!”, “The maestros of emotions”, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”, “ In the heart of the hospital” “We are all strangers until we realize that it is normal” and also “Tears are not heard”, a work that addresses the issue of bullying and which included interviews and collaboration with experts Tito de Morais and Cristiane Miranda.
Daniela Espírito Santo
Journalist, Renascença radio, PortugalMy name is Daniela Espírito Santo, I'm 36 years old and I've been a journalist for over a decade. Many talk about the 'bug' of writing and the 'bug' of radio. I know them both well. The first one, I found for the first time on a bench at a primary school, in Campanhã, in Porto. The second would appear later in a fleeting experience on the late Rádio Clube de Matosinhos. I didn't give too much importance to any of them, treating them as dreams that were unlikely to be achievable. Despite this, I took a risk and found in journalism the career I was looking for to break with the past, honoring it. It wasn't supposed to, it wasn't possible, but it turned out to be future and, most importantly, present. Now, I move between @ and # in this big house, where I remain an enthusiast of social networks and mobile journalism. I graduated in Communication Sciences at the University of Porto and I have also taught the Digital Marketing and Strategy course at EDIT, a few years ago. I've been to places like JPN, JN or Correio da Manhã and found rest in the greater Renascença, where I've been since 2018 as a journalist and social media manager, bouncing between Lisbon and Porto. You can see what my two greatest professional passions are, right? Plus, I love volunteering, traveling and festivals... but let's not talk about that! 🙂

Summary: With more than 40 years of experience in education, Bill Belsey, a Canadian educator considered the “father” of the word cyberbullying, will share with us how this term came about. Title: Cyberbullying: An Overview of Research and Policy in OECD Countries
Summary: Cyberbullying is a high priority policy challenge in many OECD countries. In recent years, the literature base on cyberbullying has rapidly expanded, shedding insights into the prevalence of the issue, highlighting which characteristics make children more likely to be cyberbullied, those that make them more likely to cyberbully others, and how this affects or is affected by well-being. Education systems have responded to this challenge in different ways such as promoting awareness of the issue, providing support to children in schools, through Internet safety initiatives, and implementing policies and sometimes laws to combat cyberbullying. This session will give an overview of some recent findings in the cyberbullying literature and will highlight examples of practice and policy to combat cyberbullying in OECD countries.

Title: Do bullying ao cyberbullying escolar
Summary: The emergence of the Internet, with access to infinite information and virtual social relationships, has radically changed society. Like any event or tool that transforms our lives, the virtual universe requires adjustments in a technology that has come to stay, and that will inexorably continue its process of hybridization with the real: artificial intelligence is already here The first thing that would need to be adjusted would be the definitions of bullying and cyberbullying, since not all cyberbullying is at school, and the specific nature of this type of abuse is often overlooked. Title: Mais Contigo – Promotion of Mental Health and Prevention of Suicidal Behaviour
Summary: In this session we will learn about the Mais Contigo program, a longitudinal intervention and research program, based on a multilevel network intervention, implemented since the 2011-2012 academic year, with the aim of promoting self-concept, problem-solving capacity, improving well-being -stay and reduce depressive symptoms in school-aged adolescents. Mais Contigo is a mental health promotion program throughout pre-university education that has demonstrated to be efficient in promoting protective factors and reducing risk factors for the manifestation of suicidal behaviours, through a multilevel intervention, in network.

Title: Extremism, Hate Groups and Gamer Culture
Summary: In this talk, we will examine how extremism and hate speech intertwine with gaming culture We will address the negative impacts, concrete examples and the joint responsibility of players, programmers, and platforms to promote a safe and healthy gaming environment. We will also address how extremist groups have appropriated gamer culture to disseminate their agendas and to attract their groups.

Title: Bullying at School: Perspectives of Operational Assistants
Summary: There is a growing interest in the study of perceptions about bullying considering the perspective of teaching professionals, in particular, teachers. With operational assistants responsible for monitoring school spaces where bullying usually occurs, a mixed, cross-sectional, and exploratory study was developed taking into consideration the following problem question: How do operational assistants work and what do they know about bullying in the context school? In this session we will talk about the results of this study.

Summary: Starting from the awareness of the importance of the media and the rapid and massive way in which they reach the general public, the aim of this session is to promote reflection on their role in the way they present or select the information they convey in the field of bullying and cyberbullying. What role can media play in disseminating information about these phenomena? How can it place itself at the service of society, promoting the dissemination of reliable information? How can the media contribute to tackle bullying and cyberbullying? How can it promote greater awareness among society? Can cyberbullying behaviours be enhanced, depending on the way we construct the information to be disclosed? These are some of the questions we will seek to address in this session.
